Preventing car theft

With advanced car features, traveling has become more fun, and long distances seem to be more enjoyable. Imagining life without the existence of a luxurious vehicle is not quite possible for some people. But with ever increasing mishaps and thefts, it has now become more important to take care of our automobiles.Here is a list of some imperative things which can be considered to prevent the car theft :

1- According to a survey, about 20 percent of the vehicles that were stolen had car keys in them. So, do not forget to your car keys inside the car.

2- Keep your car locked.

3- Do not park your car in a dark area, prefer parking in a lighted area.

4- Common theft points include convenience stores, gas stations, ATM's, etc., so never leave your car running at these places.

5- Open car windows allow thief's to enter into the car easily, so keep the car windows close while parking the car.

6- Leaving valuables like laptop will make your car a more desirable target, so avoid leaving valuable goods even for few minutes.

7- When parking car in a garage, keep the garage as well as the car door locked.

8- Use straight locks instead of T- shaped door locks for car.

9- Get a Vehicle Identification Number(VIN) for the car, so that it can be easily traced, if stolen.

Other physical barriers to avoid car theft


1- Some parts of the vehicle like a steering wheel is important for its operation. Stealing can be made more difficult by using steering wheel or brake pedal lock.

2- A immobilizer is another device which will allow the vehicle to start only after detecting that key having the correct chip is inserted into the ignition.

3- Car alarm system is the most common and highly preferred option chosen by car owners to prevent car theft. Alarm rings when entry into the vehicle is detected.
